Visualization research based on biotechnology

About the Research
“Visualizing Biological Abstraction in Nature: Exploring the Occurrence of Deformed Amphibians in Australia, The United Kingdom, and North America” The aims of my research are to develop performative laboratory and field based research investigations, generating scientific data on amphibian deformities in three continents with the public and participating biologists. The study will allow me to further explore my artistic practice, which expands notions of artistic investigation to direct participation within the realm of science as a strategy towards increasing awareness of environmental issues and promoting social change. pecific questions to be addressed: • How does this practice expand historic approaches towards artistic investigation? • As “research art” evolves to participation does it become science, does it remain artistic investigation, or does it become a hybrid? • How does this form of Ecological Art or Eco-Art expand upon traditional art about nature? • By engaging the public through workshops, field-trips, and other activities how does this practice become a form of social/environmental activism?
